Panasonic will newly establish a system development company in the U.S. in April and double the current number of system engineers to more than 200 over the next three to four years. Yasuyuki Higuchi, president of an internal unit that develops systems for other businesses, announced the plan at a press conference on Jan.8 local time.

In North America the major Japanese electronics maker has distributors for each product and field and its engineers are dispersed. It will consolidate four distributors and concentrate personnel to beef up its corporate business.

Panasonic will set up Panasonic System Solutions North America Company under its U.S. subsidiary. In North America, Panasonic sells security cameras and broadcasting equipment. But Higuchi says, “We’d like to provide not products alone but solutions that include our (multiple) products and software.” The company plans to construct a marketing system for each industry, including logistics, public safety, and manufacturing, and to develop shared platforms.
