The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) revised on Jan. 16 certain figures in its estimates of the economic effects of the effectuation of the TPP agreement without the U.S. and the Japan-EU economic partnership agreement (EPA) released on Dec. 21.

Figures pertaining to the reduction in the output of dairy products was revised from “approximately 19.2-30.4 billion yen” to “approximately 19.9-31.4 billion yen” for the TPP, while figures for the EPA with the EU were revised from “approximately 12.2-18.5 billion yen” to “approximately 13.4-20.3 billion yen.” This was due to a different method being used for calculating consumption tax from that used for other products.
