Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera stated at a news conference on Jan. 23 that he will “report to the National Security Council as soon as possible” on the activities to protect U.S. military vessels and aircraft conducted in 2017 based on the security laws and “disclose as much information as possible on this.” He will announce shortly the number of operations and other data over the past year.
