Liberal Democratic Party Vice-President Masahiko Komura indicated at a lecture he gave in Tokyo on Jan. 24 that he hopes a constitutional amendment draft providing the grounds for the Self-Defense Forces will be ready by the March 25 party convention. “I hope the party will be able to build consensus on an amendment for Article 9 of the Constitution by the time of the party convention,” he said.
