Japan prioritizing “new TPP for now”

Japan’s strategy is focused on stepping up efforts to realize a new Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement and sizing up the U.S. intention. Minister for Economic Revitalization Toshimitsu Motegi said on Jan. 26 that “our top priority is to enforce the new TPP.” According to the “Australian,” an Australian newspaper, though Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull welcomes the remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump, he noted that “we don’t expect the U.S. to join the TPP soon.”
