On March 4, Okinawa Affairs Minister Teru Fukui, who was on his first visit to Okinawa after assuming office, visited the Futenma Daini Elementary School adjacent to the Futenma Air Station (in Ginowan City), where the window of a U.S. military helicopter dropped onto the school’s playground last December. He told reporters after the visit: “Aircraft must never fly over the school again. The government as a whole will work for thoroughgoing measures to prevent a recurrence.”
