The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) will hold a seminar on constitutional revision for the secretaries general and chief secretaries of its prefectural chapters at the party headquarters on March 24, the day before the party convention on March 25. Headquarters for the Promotion of Revision to the Constitution Chairman Hiroyuki Hosoda and other officials will brief them on proposals for revisions in the constitution on four issues, including adding a provision on the Self-Defense Forces.
This is meant to enliven the national debate on the constitution through the local chapters.
The discussions at the headquarters so far and the proposed direction of constitutional revisions, but not the exact wording of the provisions, will be reported to the seminar on the 24th and the party convention on the 25th. (Abridged)
