IOC chief briefs Abe on his trip to North Korea

Asahi, Mainichi, Sankei, and Nikkei reported on a telephone conversation between Prime Minister Abe and International Olympic Committee President Bach on Wednesday, during which the IOC chief briefed the prime minister on his trip to Pyongyang and meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un last week. Kim reportedly expressed North Korea’s intention to send athletes to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in his talks with the IOC chief. Prime Minister Abe reportedly told Bach that he hopes the IOC will give consideration to the Japanese public’s strong feelings about the abduction of Japanese nationals by North Korea.
