The NEXEDGE series of professional digital radio systems, developed by JVC Kenwood (headquartered in Kanagawa Ward, Yokohama City), was adopted by the U.S. Embassy and Consulates and related facilities in Japan as tools for emergency communication among staff members.

The systems were developed for the public safety market, such as the  police, fire departments, and emergency services; the public service market, including electricity, water and gas; and the private market, hotels, retail businesses, and the like. The systems are characterized by reduced noise and by confidentiality of communication unique to a digital radio system. JVC Kenwood says its long-standing track record of providing [professional digital radio equipment] to the U.S. Department of State was rated highly.

The radio business is one of the core businesses of JVC Kenwood. The company says, “We will continue to provide optimal digital radio solutions that meet the needs of individual markets to promote the expansion of the digital radio system business, which is expected to grow around the world.”
