Casino-related companies are enthusiastically interested in Osaka, one of the strong candidate sites for integrated resort (IR) facilities including casinos. On April 9, “Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited,” which runs casino facilities in Hong Kong, opened its office in Osaka City. A casino dealer training school will soon open an Osaka school. Casino-related businesses, which expect the IR Implementation bill will be passed, are making inroads into Osaka one after another.

The Melco held a private viewing on April 9 to demonstrate its unique casino entry control system called “MelGuard.” A Melco official says the system is capable of restricting the access of gamble addicts by biometric technology. “We want to eliminate concerns about IRs,” the official added.

On April 14, “Japan Casino School” (Tokyo) will newly open an Osaka school in a commercial complex facility. Taking advantage of its technical know-how, which sent a total of about 700 graduates to the world, the school plans to train casino-related human resources. The school will also open a café adjacent to the school where visitors can experience a casino.

MGM Resorts International, a U.S. leading casino operator, has already established its office in Osaka City. An event is scheduled to be held in Osaka on April 27-28, where IR-related industry officials will gather including many operators from Las Vegas and other places.
