Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Taro Aso, head of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Aso faction, and Secretary General Toshihiro Nikai, leader of the Nikai faction, dined at a steak house in Ginza, Tokyo, on the evening of April 10. The two support Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s reelection for a third term in the party’s presidential election in September. It is believed that they discussed the situation in the party in relation to the election.
Meanwhile, officers of the Kishida and Ishihara factions also met at a Japanese restaurant in Kioicho in Tokyo on the same evening.
