The government’s Regulatory Reform Promotion Council held a working group meeting on April 26 to discuss broadcasting system reform plans. Senior officials of NHK and the Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association (JBA) were invited to the meeting to give their views on the plans. But the meeting did not discuss the abolishment of Article 4 of Japan’s broadcasting law, which requires political fairness in TV broadcasts and the government is mulling to scrap.
