Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Diet Affairs Committee Chairman Jun Matsumoto and his Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan counterpart Koichi Yamauchi met in the Diet on May 10. They agreed to hold the party leaders’ debate on May 30.

This debate was not held even once last year and if held as planned, it will be the first party leaders’ debate since Dec. 7, 2016.
