Coordination is underway to discharge Okinawa Governor Takeshi Onaga, who had a tumor removed from his pancreas, from the hospital in the week of May 21, sources disclosed to the Okinawa Times. Immediately after being discharged from the hospital, the governor will hold a press conference to explain test results and other matters, sources said. The sources say Onaga is eager to return to his official duties and will aim to do so as soon as he can while keeping an eye on his physical condition.
Meanwhile, the results of the test to determine whether the removed tumor is benign or malignant were supposed to be announced two weeks after the surgery conducted on April 21. However, the results have yet to be released.
It seems that the governor will probably refer to the test results at the press conference after being discharged from the hospital.
