NHK reported on its website that although North Korea has called for the cancellation of the joint military drills between the U.S. and South Korean forces as a condition for resuming inter-Korean ministerial talks, Pentagon Chief Spokesperson White said on Thursday that the U.S. is planning to continue the exercises and that their scope will remain unchanged. The network said White also remarked that there are no discussions being held on changing the scope of the exercises in preparation for the June 12 summit.
