TOKYO (Jiji Press) — Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Friday underscored the importance of a fair process to select locations for casino-featuring integrated resorts.

“It’s crucial to conduct screenings in a fair and unbiased manner, with transparency,” Abe told a House of Representatives Cabinet Committee meeting.

A bill to introduce integrated resorts, now under parliamentary deliberation, calls for selecting up to three locations from prefectures bidding to host such facilities.

Abe said that details of the selection process will be considered.
