East Asian nations vow to continue support for Palestinians

Asahi reported on a ministerial meeting of the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD) that was held in Bangkok on Wednesday. According to the paper, the participating nations issued a joint statement in which they expressed concern about the current situation of the Palestinians and agreed to continue to provide development support in information and communication technology and other areas. The East Asian nations also agreed on the importance of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and their continued support for the agency. Nikkei ran a similar report, adding that Foreign Minister Kono, who co-chaired the conference, pledged Japan’s continued support for the UNRWA.
