Gov’t provides Y7.9bn in subsidies to eight political parties

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on July 20 provided a total of 7.94342 billion yen in the second tranche of government subsidies to eight political parties in 2018. The Japanese Communist Party did not apply for the subsidies as it opposes the subsidy system. The subsidies are provided quarterly every year — in April, July, October, and December. The subsidies provided to the political parties were as follows:
