Ambassador Hagerty to attend Hiroshima peace ceremony

Hiroshima-based Chugoku Shimbun wrote yesterday that final arrangements are underway for Ambassador Hagerty to attend this year’s peace memorial ceremony to be held at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park on Aug. 6, saying that this will be the first time for a U.S. envoy to take part in the event since the advent of the Trump administration. The daily added that ahead of his trip to Hiroshima, the Ambassador will attend a Boy Scout jamboree in Ishikawa Prefecture where he plans to meet with participants from Hiroshima to learn about the annual peace ceremony and the damage caused by the heavy rain and flooding in the prefecture.
