Komeito calls for improving SOFA implementation

Saturday’s Nikkei and Sankei reported that Komeito Secretary General Inoue visited Chief Cabinet Secretary Suga at the Kantei on Friday and called for improvements in SOFA implementation in light of repeated incidents involving U.S. service members and U.S. military aircraft. According to Sankei, Inoue asked Suga to examine the possibility of stipulating in a supplementary agreement that U.S military personnel should be handed over to Japanese authorities before indictment in the case of heinous crimes.
