Xie Fuzhan, president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a government research institute, stated during a speech at the symposium held in Beijing on Aug. 11 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the conclusion of the Japan-China Treaty of Peace and Friendship that a Japan-China-ROK summit “will be held in Beijing toward the end of this year.”
The last trilateral summit was held in Tokyo in May and if another one is held in Beijing, this will be the first time for the summit to be held twice in a year. China will be the host of the next summit. Xie is a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with the rank of a cabinet minister.
