President Trump, PM Abe to hold summit on Sept. 25

Asahi reported in its evening edition that according to a GOJ source, the governments of the U.S. and Japan are making final arrangements to hold a summit between President Trump and Prime Minister Abe in the U.S. on Sept. 25  if Abe is reelected. According to the daily, the summit is expected to be held on the margins of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York, and the two leaders are expected to discuss such issues as North Korea and trade. The paper said this will be their eighth summit, adding that they are also expected to play golf on Sept. 24. The daily also wrote that arrangements are being made to hold the second round of bilateral “free, fair, and reciprocal” (FFR) trade talks sometime after Sept. 21.
