Komeito Chief Representative Natsuo Yamaguchi met with China-Japan Friendship Association Chairman Tang Jiaxuan at the Diaoyutai State Guest House in Beijing on Sept. 9. Tang praised progress made in the normalization of China’s bilateral ties with Japan and noted that “the bilateral relationship has not only improved but also is making new development.”

Yamaguchi and Tang acknowledged the need for a reciprocal visit to be made by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Japan following the planned visit to China by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in October.

Yamaguchi mentioned that this year marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Japan-China peace and friendship treaty and stressed that “on this landmark year, we would like to confirm the basic of the Japan-China relationship and hope to enhance an everlasting friendship.” Tang welcomed Yamaguchi’s visit to China, saying: “China and Japan have been making stable and positive development in their bilateral ties of late. High-ranking politicians of the two nations have been visiting each other frequently. The latest visit to China by Komeito also represents this important momentum.”
