DPFP picks Hirano as secretary-general

Democratic Party for the People (DPFP) leader Yuichiro Tamaki proposed new party executives at a joint plenary meeting of party members of both houses of the Diet on Sept. 11 and the proposal was approved.  According to the proposal, former Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirofumi Hirano, 69, who represents the Osaka No.11 district in the Lower House, will be appointed as the party’s secretary-general and former internal affairs minister Kazuhiro Haraguchi, 59, who was elected in the Saga No. 1 district in the Lower House, will take the post of Diet affairs committee chairman.
