Japan to possess capability to intercept missiles bound for Guam

Asahi took up press remarks by Defense Minister Onodera, who was asked by the press whether it would be possible for Japan to use the Aegis Ashore batteries that it plans to procure to intercept a DPRK ballistic missile headed toward Guam. He was quoted as saying: “Japan would be able to respond to the situation with either an MSDF Aegis warship or Aegis Ashore platform.”
