Motegi explains difference between U.S., Japanese descriptions of new trade talks

TV Asahi reported at noon that concerning the fact that the official English text of the joint statement on the new trade talks between Japan and the U.S. says the U.S. and Japan will enter negotiations for a trade agreement on not only goods but also services, which differs from the explanation provided by the Japanese side, Economic Revitalization Minister Motegi reportedly explained: “Based on the discussions, we described the fact that we agreed to begin negotiations for a trade agreement on goods. We have conveyed to the U.S. side that we will call the talks ‘TAG negotiations.'” Motegi reportedly stressed that there is no discrepancy between Japan and the U.S.
