Keidanren (Japan Business Federation) released on Oct. 16 its recommendations on the government’s policy to expand the intake of foreign workers, calling for respect for foreign workers’ human rights and the realization of a society that accepts diversity.

In view of the discovery of various illegal acts, such as making technical interns work long hours, Keidanren calls on its member companies and their clients to “abide by the law and respect international standards, including human rights, with regard to the supply chain” and vows to “give active support to appropriate efforts.” (Abridged)
