Yomiuri wrote this morning that the GOJ is interested in jointly hosting with Iceland an international ministerial conference on Arctic-related issues in 2020 in a bid to spearhead scientific research in the region. In the third conference of its kind, cabinet ministers in charge of science and research from more than 20 nations, including Arctic Council members, will likely discuss mutual collaboration toward adopting the Japanese idea of using an unmanned underwater vehicle to observe ocean trends.
