LDP names chiefs of two newly created policy headquarters

Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Policy Research Council Chairman Fumio Kishida announced at a news conference on Oct. 31 that former Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Yoshimasa Hayashi has been named to chair the newly created “headquarters for economic growth strategy” and former Finance Minister Fukushiro Nukaga to chair the new “headquarters for the promotion of fiscal restructuring.”


Kishida will head both headquarters. The economic growth strategy headquarters will hold its first meeting on Nov. 7 to discuss measures to sustain consumption when the consumption tax rate is increased to 10% in October 2019.
