The Liberal Democratic Party’s (LDP) Foreign Affairs Division adopted a protest resolution on Nov. 26 on the landing of South Korean National Assembly members on Takeshima in Shimane Prefecture and submitted this to Foreign Minister Taro Kono. A copy of the resolution adopted on Nov. 22 protesting the disbandment of the Reconciliation and Healing Foundation created to support the former comfort women was also handed over to Kono.
According to a LDP member present at the meeting, Kono indicated that he would question the ROK government’s responsibility for providing the helicopter that took the lawmakers to Takeshima. He also expressed a negative opinion on having Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha visit Japan at an early date.
