The conservative ruling parties’ floor group in the Ginowan City Assembly in Okinawa (26 members) has decided to propose the adoption of a written opinion opposing the ordinance on holding the referendum [on Henoko relocation] at the assembly’s regular session on Dec. 4.

The ruling parties control a majority in the assembly, so the written opinion is expected to be adopted. Budget proposals relating to the administration of the referendum will also be submitted to the assembly’s regular session but they are very likely to be rejected.
