Q: The government plans to move forward with the relocation of the U.S. military Futenma Air Station to the Henoko district of Nago City even though Denny Tamaki won the September Okinawa gubernatorial election on a campaign platform of opposing the relocation. Q: This question concerns Aegis Ashore, the land-based missile defense system that the government decided last year to introduce to counter the launch of ballistic missiles by North Korea. The cost of introduction has ballooned substantially from the original estimates, and approval has not been gained from local governments in Akita and Yamaguchi Prefectures, where plans call for the system to be installed. Do you think the deployment of Aegis Ashore in Japan should move forward as scheduled?

Q: Some are saying that reinstating the local assemblypersons’ pension system should be considered to alleviate the lack of people to serve on local assemblies. The system was abolished in 2011 due to the deterioration of pension finances with the decrease in the number of assemblypersons after municipality mergers and some said that the system amounted to “preferential treatment for assemblypersons.” Are you in favor of or opposed to bringing back the local assemblypersons’ pension system?
