Okinawa Times and Ryukyu Shimpo wrote that concerning an ordinance on holding a prefecture-wide referendum on the relocation of the Futenma base to Henoko, the city assembly of Miyakojima adopted at its regular session on Wednesday a written opinion opposing the planned referendum. Among the 22 members of the assembly, 17 voted in favor of the plan while five voted against it. The papers noted that Miyakojima is the fourth municipality to adopt an opinion opposing the plebiscite following Ishigaki, Ginowan, and Tokashiki.
