Nikkei reported on Saturday that the containment of Chinese IT giant Huawei led by the U.S. and joined by Australia and Japan is bound to impact the global supply chain, including Japanese and U.S. companies. The paper explained that Huawei’s annual procurement of semiconductors alone is worth $14 billion (approximately 1.6 trillion yen). In 2017, the company reportedly spent 500 billion yen (approximately $4.4 billion) on parts from Japanese companies, and $1.8 billion and $700 million on products from Qualcomm and Intel, respectively.
