The Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (CDPJ) is expected to achieve its goal of “setting up 40 prefectural chapters” by the end of the year. The party has already established its chapters in 39 prefectures as of Dec. 17. Preparations are also underway to set up a chapter in some other prefectures. But the quality of the organizations vary among regions and it seems to take more time for the CDPJ to solidify the foundation that enables the party to win elections. (Abridged)
