Yomiuri and Nikkei wrote that the city of Ginowan, which hosts the Futenma Air Station, might not participate in the prefecture-wide referendum to be held on Feb.24 on the relocation of the Futenma functions to Henoko because its city assembly rejected a supplementary budget for performing administrative work for holding the vote. Mainichi and Sankei ran similar reports, saying that the city assemblies of a total of eight municipalities in Okinawa, including Uruma and Okinawa, have also rejected relevant budgets.
