FY19 budget allocates more money to Haneda, Narita and other infrastructure improvement in Tokyo

On Dec. 21, the government announced the budget for fiscal 2019, allocating more funds for the enhancement of the functions at Haneda and Narita airports ahead of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is looking to give the “final touches” to infrastructure” in the Tokyo metropolitan area. At the same time, the functions of Tokyo, Yokohama and Kawasaki ports will also be enhanced. The government aims to operate the Tokyo Games smoothly and make the metropolis more internationally competitive. (Abridged)
