Tokyo, Jan. 16 (Jiji Press)–The Japanese government will update its cybersecurity guidelines at an early date to protect key infrastructure, such as electricity, gas and water systems, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said Wednesday.

Experts commissioned by the government will meet Thursday to discuss the matter, Suga told a press conference.

Citing the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics and this year’s Rugby World Cup in Japan, Suga said, “Cybersecurity measures are extremely important to be fully prepared for such events.”
