Gov’t seeking opportunities for a Japan-DPRK summit

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga acknowledged in a Feb. 26 press conference that the Japanese government remains committed to seeking opportunities for a summit between Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Workers’ Party of Korea Chairman Kim Jong Un on the DPRK’s abductions of Japanese nationals. “As we are asking U.S. President Donald Trump and other leaders of relevant nations for help on various things, it goes without saying that our prime minister should meet directly with Chairman Kim,” he said.
