President Trump reveals that Abe mentioned increase in Japanese plants in U.S.

All national dailies reported on President Trump’s remarks at a meeting at the White House with American business leaders on Wednesday. He reportedly said that Prime Minister Abe told him in a recent meeting that Japanese companies are planning to build at least seven major production plants in the United States. The papers wrote that the President reportedly added that more plants should be established in the United States because it has had an enormous trade deficit with Japan for long time. Nikkei asserted that the episode reflects Abe’s efforts to ease President Trump’s pressure on Japan to correct the trade imbalance. NHK reported on the meeting and the President’s remarks yesterday.
