Asahi reported online on a Treasury Department advisory released on Thursday concerning the addition of two Chinese freight operators to its sanction list on account of their involvement in the delivery of goods and services to North Korean traders in defiance of U.S. and UN economic sanctions. These were the first punitive measures to be applied in connection with DPRK sanctions following what the daily described as the “rupture” of the Hanoi Summit. “The United States and our like-minded partners remain committed to achieving the final, fully verified denuclearization of North Korea and believe that the full implementation of North Korea-related UN Security Council resolutions is crucial to a successful outcome,” Treasury Secretary Mnuchin reportedly said in a statement.
