All TV networks led with reports that Olympics Minister Sakurada resigned last night over his gaffe that a Diet member was more important than post-quake reconstruction in Tohoku. Prime Minister Abe has replaced him with former Olympic Minister Shunichi Suzuki.

In addition to Sakurada’s resignation, national dailies gave prominent front-page coverage to the announcement on Wednesday by a group of astronomers from the U.S., Japan, Europe, and other countries that they have captured an image of a black hole for the first time ever.
