All national dailies wrote that the WTO’s appellate body for dispute settlement ruled on Thursday in favor of South Korea’s ban on imports of some Japanese fishery products that was imposed in the wake of the 2011 Fukushima nuclear accident. The decision reversed an earlier ruling delivered by a dispute settlement panel in February 2018 supporting Japan’s argument that the restrictions are not based on science, constitute arbitrary and unjustifiable discrimination, and hamper free trade. However, the appellate body overturned the earlier decision by saying that there were errors in the investigation of the dispute.
