On April 24, the Central Union of Agriculture Co-operatives (JA Zenchu) held a national convention in Tokyo and presented its fiscal 2019 policy proposals. About 600 directors and employees of JA nationwide attended the convention.

In the proposals to the government, JA Zenchu recommends Japan take a resolute stance in the trade negotiations with the U.S., and it seeks support for family-run farms. The government is considering limiting associate members’ use of Japan Agricultural Cooperatives (Nokyo).
