Beijing, May 5 (Jiji Press)–China is accelerating efforts to find the truth about North Korea’s firing of projectiles on Saturday, Wang Yang, the fourth-ranking official of the Communist Party of China, said Sunday.

Wang did not discuss North Korea’s possible intentions behind the firing and said that it is important to seek a solution through political dialogue such as talks between the United States and North Korea.

Wang, chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, made the remarks in a meeting with a group of Japanese lawmakers, led by Yoshimasa Hayashi, head of the Japanese parliamentarians’ league for friendship with China.

Prior to the meeting, Hayashi and other Japanese lawmakers held talks with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou, who is expected to be appointed next ambassador to Japan.

Japan has asked Chinese President Xi Jinping to travel to Japan following his planned participation in the Group of 20 summit to be held in Osaka, western Japan, in June.

Kong signaled Beijing’s intention to make arrangements for the proposed visit to Japan by Xi, saying both countries’ diplomatic authorities have confirmed the need for and the importance of such a visit.
