President Trump comments on North Korea’s missile launches in tweet

NHK reported that President Trump said in a tweet on Sunday that he has confidence that Chairman Kim will keep his promise to him. The network quoted the President as saying on Twitter: “North Korea fired off some small weapons, which disturbed some of my people, and others, but not me. I have confidence that Chairman Kim will keep his promise to me.” Noting that National Security Adviser Bolton expressed the view on Saturday that the DPRK’s launches of short-range ballistic missiles in early May violated UN Security Council resolutions, the broadcaster speculated that the President urged Chairman Kim to make concessions by stressing his policy of seeking the resolution of the North Korean nuclear issue through dialogue. Kyodo News also reported on the President’s tweet.
