The House of Councillors passed and approved an investment agreement between Japan and Argentina at a plenary session on May 29. The agreement is aimed at protecting the rights of companies and investors to promote mutual investment between the two countries. The pact will enable investors to file claims with international arbitration organizations if they suffer damage. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe signed the agreement when he visited Buenos Aires in December 2018.
