Before dawn on May 25 in the village of Yomitan the Kadena Police arrested on the spot Jacob Bine (phonetic), a 20-year-old U.S. Air Force member stationed at the Kadena base, for possessing a knife with a blade longer than 6 cm without a proper reason. The charge was violation of the act controlling the possession of firearms or swords. The suspect denies the charge.

The allegation is that around 2:20 a.m. on May 25, the suspect possessed a 10-cm-long butterfly knife, which was kept in the door pocket on the passenger’s side of his car, on Route 58 in the village. The police noticed a car driving without lights. The police stopped the car. While questioning the driver, the knife was discovered.
