Japan, Italy affirm cooperation for G-20 Summit

Tokyo, June 5 (Jiji Press) — Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Italian Foreign Minister Enzo Moavero Milanesi on Wednesday confirmed their countries’ cooperation for the Group of 20 summit in the western Japan city of Osaka on June 28-29.

At their meeting in Tokyo, Abe told the visiting minister that Japan and Italy share universal values such as freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.

Abe also said he looks forward to welcoming Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte in Osaka for the summit among the 20 advanced and emerging economies.

While praising Japan’s role in promoting free trade, the Italian minister stressed that his country has also been active as a champion of free trade in the European Union.
