Japan appoints new envoys to Kenya, South Africa

Tokyo, June 7 (Jiji Press) — The Japanese government, at a cabinet meeting on Friday, approved the appointments of new ambassadors to Kenya and South Africa, effective immediately.

Ryoichi Horie, 64, was appointed ambassador to Kenya.

Horie, who joined the Foreign Ministry in 1979, served as ambassador to Micronesia since April 2016 after taking such posts as minister at the embassy in New Delhi and ambassador to Sudan.

Norio Maruyama, ambassador to Eswatini and Lesotho, was appointed to the concurrent post of ambassador to South Africa.
